Popsicle Sticks and Drums

I've learned there comes a time when every parent needs to just stop, watch, and admire their child's innate ability to amaze them! Tonight after Asher and I had a yummy helping of soup and crackers for dinner, it was time to bust out the popsicles! Yes, ever since the first day of Spring arrived, I have officially deemed it popsicle season... ok, so maybe I like them as much as Asher does, but a mommy can enjoy them too, right?! Well, after the popsicles were throughly enjoyed the popsicle sticks never made it to the trash can. Instead, while listening to daddy's music on the computer, Asher decided that the sticks would be perfect for drumming! (I swear this kid is going to end up being a drummer one day). What is the perfect drum form popsicle drums sticks you ask, what better than mommy's soup bowl and glass (the glass was used as the symbol). I could not help but laugh out loud when I turned around and saw Asher drumming on the soup bowl and singing, I'll never be the same, at the top of his lungs! Kids are truly a blessing. Thanks for the good laugh tonight Asher.

Welcome to the 3rd Trimester!

It's the home stretch baby - we have entered into the 3rd trimester! Can I get a "whoop whoop"! We are officially at 28 weeks. Baby girl continues to grow and kick daily. I can already tell she's going to have a spunky personality! I have provided a few recent photos of the ever expanding belly (sorry for the lack of posted week in the recent photos - guess I've gotten a little lazy)!

Disciplining Woes

I don't know if our sweet little boy has finally decided to embrace the fact that he is 2 1/2 or what. But the last several nights I have seen a different side of Asher then I'm use to. There's a small part of me that wonders if he just misses daddy and these emotions are something new he is trying to understand. Whatever the case, with these tantrums comes attempting discipline - something that I'm trying to learn more and more about daily. SupperNanny - I WILL be logging on to your website today! What I struggle with is the awful feeling I, as a mother, feel after having to discipline my child. It's not that I don't want to discipline - believe me... when those tantrums strike it takes all my might to hold onto my patience - it's what I see when I look at Asher AFTER he has finally calmed down that just breaks me. I see his sweet innocence again which just melts my heart.

I know discipline is necessary and it's part of being a good parent. Children do need to know boundaries and respect for adults. My heart hurts when Asher doesn't realize what his actions are doing. I want to just pick him up and hold him close and never let go (which he wants nothing to do with when he is angry). It makes me understand, if only a minuet fraction, of how our Heavenly Father feels towards us. There's something about having children of your own that enables you to understand in a unique way the amazing love God has towards His children.

I'll take these tantrums a day at a time and know that they are only helping me grow as a parent. I LOVE YOU ASHER! You are growing up to be a wonderful, amazing, caring, and talented little boy.

Expanding Waist Line and Gymnastics

Since my last post baby girl has definitely done some growing. I figured it was time to post some new pictures of the ever expanding waist line. And I will be honest and say the black dress was on purpose - fashion experts say it is slimming, right!? We are now at 26 weeks (or month 6 if you prefer months) - only 2 more weeks left in the second trimester! Baby girl is doing great and kicking like crazy. If I knew better I would swear she's doing baby gymnastics in there! Or it could be that she is dancing to her big brother's constant "rock-star" singing and never ending drumming. Ha! Now if I could only teach Asher to play some Mozart on the piano... hmmm, then we'd be in business.
